Representative Paul Broun believes Earth is only 9,000 years old.
Level of Knowledge in our Political Leadership
by John P. Reisman
In 2009 Representative Paul Broun, who is known for his assertion that President Obama was not born in America criticizing President-elect Barack Obama‘s call for a civilian national service corps, suggesting that Obama might use it to establish a Marxist dictatorship.” and “That’s exactly what Hitler did in Nazi Germany and it’s exactly what the Soviet Union did. When he’s proposing to have a national security force that’s answering to him, that is as strong as the U.S. military, he’s showing me signs of being Marxist.”
Broun is a member of the Republican Party and the Tea Party Caucus.
Broun serves on the United States House Committee on Science, Space and Technology and the United States House Science Subcommittee on Energy and Environment as well as the United States House Science Subcommittee on Investigations and Oversight.
In statements to the House in 2009 he called Global Warming a hoax.
On September 27, 2012 Representative Broun, in a speech at the Liberty Baptist Church Sportsman’s Banquet stated:
“All that stuff I was taught about evolution and embryology and the Big Bang Theory, all that is lies straight from the pit of Hell,” Broun
and
“And it’s lies to try to keep me and all the folks who were taught that from understanding that they need a savior.”
and
“You see, there are a lot of scientific data that I’ve found out as a scientist that actually show that this is really a young Earth,”
and
“I don’t believe that the Earth’s but about 9,000 years old. I believe it was created in six days as we know them. That’s what the Bible says.”
and
“What I’ve come to learn is that it’s the manufacturer’s handbook, is what I call it,” he said. “It teaches us how to run our lives individually, how to run our families, how to run our churches. But it teaches us how to run all of public policy and everything in society. And that’s the reason as your congressman I hold the holy Bible as being the major directions to me of how I vote in Washington, D.C., and I’ll continue to do that.”
It is important to understand the level of knowledge our political leaders bring to their decision making process. Rep. Broun has demonstrated without a doubt that he is not looking at scientific evidence.
